Apple’s September event always stirs excitement, but they’ve taken things up a notch this year, particularly with their AirPods lineup.

If you’ve been following Apple for a while, you’ll know they rarely make incremental updates.

This time, however, they’ve gone beyond just improving sound quality or battery life—Apple is making a play in the health tech space, and it’s hard not to take notice.

Let’s start with the AirPods Pro 2, which, in my view, were the stars of the show. When I first heard the rumors about AirPods doubling as hearing aids, I was skeptical. But Apple has delivered on this and then some.

They’ve introduced a clinical-grade hearing aid feature that’s not just a gimmick but a genuinely helpful tool for those with hearing impairments.

With a simple software update, AirPods Pro 2 can now perform hearing tests and store the results in the Health App.

This isn’t just about monitoring—Apple’s leveraging large-scale real-world data to help users track their hearing health over time.

This move is bold, considering that, according to Apple’s own Hearing Study, 75% of people diagnosed with hearing loss haven’t received the help they need.

The thing is, Apple’s not just throwing tech at the problem; they’re making it accessible. You don’t need to visit an audiologist for a basic checkup—you can do it with the device you already use every day.

But it’s not just about health. These AirPods still deliver the Apple experience we’ve come to expect.

After you’ve taken a hearing test, the AirPods customize audio profiles across all your Apple devices, meaning your music, movies, and even calls are tailored to your specific hearing needs.

This level of personalization could change how we think about audio devices, especially for those who have never considered hearing aids.

Moving on to the AirPods Max, it’s clear that Apple hasn’t forgotten about the style-conscious audiophile.

The new colors—Midnight, Blue, Purple, Orange, and Starlight—are fresh without being flashy, and USB-C compatibility finally brings the Max in line with the rest of Apple’s lineup.

Personalized Spatial Audio, which comes with iOS 18, is another nice touch, though it feels like a feature designed to keep Apple ahead of the curve rather than solve a specific problem.

Finally, the AirPods 4 might not have grabbed as many headlines, but they’re quietly impressive.

Priced at $129 for the standard model and $179 for the version with Active Noise Cancellation, the new AirPods are about more than just good sound—they’re about smart sound.

They’ve trimmed down the size, added a USB-C charging case with 30 hours of battery life, and enhanced sound quality with richer bass and clearer highs.

It’s a solid upgrade, especially when you consider that they also support wireless charging via Qi and MagSafe.

One feature that caught my attention was the enhanced Siri support. Apple uses machine learning to recognize head gestures like nods and shakes, which might sound trivial, but it is actually pretty cool in practice.

Imagine being able to skip a song just by shaking your head or answering a call with a nod. It’s subtle, but these small, intuitive touches keep Apple’s products feeling fresh and ahead of the competition.

So, whether you’re in it for the sound, the style, or the health benefits, Apple’s latest AirPods updates offer something for everyone.

All new AirPods models are available to pre-order now in the United States and will be available starting September 20.
