Apple quietly confirmed this week that Siri’s big overhaul depends on help from a longtime rival, and new reporting shows how big that change goes.
The revamped assistant is finally starting to feel like something you might actually want to use. This spring, it will answer factual questions in a conversational tone rather than giving awkward one-line replies.
It can tell stories if you’re bored and even provide emotional support when your day is going sideways.
On the practical side, it can book travel or create a document in Notes, recipes, lists, whatever you need. Finally, Siri is beginning to feel like a real assistant instead of a gimmick.
Some of these features are already rolling out with iOS 26. Personalized Siri will understand your context, peek into apps, and pull information from Mail or Messages.
Ask about your mother’s flight or lunch plans, and it will actually respond with useful information instead of shrugging and muttering “I don’t know.”
It’s the kind of awareness users have been waiting for, and it makes the assistant feel far more capable than anything Apple has shipped in the past decade.
Apple isn’t stopping there. At WWDC this June, Siri will get even smarter. It will remember past conversations, so you won’t have to repeat yourself every time.
It will also provide proactive suggestions based on your apps, such as nudging you about a Calendar event or reminding you about something you saved in Mail.
Taken together, these seven upgrades make Siri feel like a proper assistant, one that actually understands the context of your life.
Under the hood, Gemini is doing the heavy lifting, but Apple is fine-tuning the model, so Siri responds in its own voice.
Not every feature will be ready at launch tough. Some capabilities won’t arrive until iOS 27, which gives Apple time to smooth things out.
