Apple has brought its 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max to Europe and Vietnam, making the compact fast charger available in 19 countries for the first time. The expansion arrived Tuesday alongside the launch of updated Mac Studio and Mac mini models.
The European version uses a retractable two-pin Europlug design, with the prongs folding flush into the adapter body when not in use.
That collapsible build makes it considerably more travel-friendly than a fixed-prong charger, since it can slip into a bag or pocket without snagging on anything.
Apple first introduced the 40W Dynamic Power Adapter in September 2025 alongside the iPhone 17 lineup, initially as a U.S.-only product with standard flat prongs. A UK-style Type G version followed in November 2025.
The Type C Europlug version is now available in Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and Vietnam. In most eurozone countries, Apple is pricing it at €45.
What the Charger Actually Does
The adapter is the same physical size as Apple’s long-running 20W charger but delivers a sustained 40W output and can push up to 60W in short bursts.
The higher burst rate is managed by a temperature sensor that adjusts output to prevent overheating, a technique Apple markets under the “Dynamic” label. The result is faster charging when the adapter is running cool, with automatic throttling as it warms up.
Compatible devices include the iPhone 17 lineup, the iPhone Air, and current iPad Pro models. For anyone who relies on Apple’s own ecosystem and wants a charger that fits in a shirt pocket without a protruding plug, the new adapter fills a gap that third-party options have covered, but Apple itself hasn’t addressed in Europe until now.
Apple has not announced when or whether additional regions beyond the current 19 countries will receive the Type-C version.
