Apple’s Apple Watch Ultra just got an upgrade. The Ultra 3 keeps the same rugged shape as before, but the screen now stretches closer to the edges, giving it a slightly larger display without making the watch feel bigger.
It’s subtle, but in a lineup where every millimeter matters, it’s noticeable. The watch comes in natural and black titanium and starts at $799, which is right in line with the previous Ultra models.
The real headline here is connectivity and battery. The Ultra 3 finally adds 5G, letting you stay online without relying on your iPhone.
Satellite connectivity also comes along for the ride, which should appeal to hikers and outdoor adventurers who often find themselves off the grid.
Battery life jumps to 42 hours, up from 36 on the Ultra 2, which is a meaningful bump if you’re pushing multi-day activities or simply hate charging your watch every night.
Health tracking continues to evolve. The Ultra 3 can now alert you to potential signs of chronic high blood pressure and even gives you a sleep score.
Those might not feel revolutionary, but they reflect a trend Apple has been pursuing quietly for years: making the watch a more proactive health device rather than just a reactive one.
This update comes alongside watchOS 26, which adds a few notable tweaks. Apple’s new Workout Buddy uses machine intelligence to help you hit your fitness goals, the Smart Stack is smarter, and a wrist flick gesture now dismisses notifications.
There’s also Apple’s new Liquid Glass design language, which hints at how future Apple devices could look and feel.
The Ultra 3 isn’t going to change the smartwatch landscape overnight. But if you’re someone who relies on battery life, GPS accuracy, and health tracking, or you want the most capable Apple Watch money can buy, this is Apple sharpening one of its most premium tools.
Preorders start today, and it’s available September 19th.
