Apple has dropped another hint about its upcoming MacBook Pro announcements, with marketing chief Greg Joswiak teasing new hardware ahead of a media event scheduled for October 28.
In a social media post, Joswiak wrote, “Can’t wait to pro and tell next week,” a playful reference to the MacBook Pro lineup Apple is expected to unveil.
The wording also suggests Apple is sticking with the familiar MacBook Pro name rather than introducing the rumored MacBook Ultra branding.
Apple has invited journalists to an in-person product experience in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, beginning at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.
Instead of a traditional keynote, the company is expected to give attendees hands-on time with its latest hardware, similar to its recent HomeView, HomePod, and Apple TV announcements.
What to Expect From Apple’s October 28 Event
The biggest announcement could be Apple’s first OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro, bringing two major display upgrades to the company’s professional laptop lineup.
Several other products are also rumored to be on the way:
- OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro: A redesigned model featuring an OLED display and touch input.
- M6 MacBook Pro: An entry-level model powered by Apple’s latest M6 chip.
- M6 iMac: An updated all-in-one desktop with Apple’s newest processor.
- OLED iPad mini: A refreshed compact tablet with improved display technology.
For MacBook Pro buyers, OLED would be a significant upgrade over the current mini-LED screens, offering deeper blacks and improved contrast.
Touchscreen support would be an even bigger departure, introducing a feature Apple has long resisted bringing to the Mac.
Joswiak’s teaser also casts doubt on the MacBook Ultra name that surfaced in earlier speculation. Apple made a similar naming decision with its foldable iPhone, which arrived as the iPhone Duo rather than the rumored iPhone Ultra.
When Will the New MacBook Pros Go on Sale?
Although Apple is expected to showcase the new hardware on October 28, retail availability could follow the next week.
The OLED MacBook Pro and accompanying products could go on sale Friday, November 6, roughly nine days after Apple’s October 28 media event, which would give Apple roughly nine days between the media event and the start of sales.
The announcements fall amid an unusually busy launch schedule. The iPhone Duo reaches stores October 23, followed by the HomePod mini 2 on October 30. Meanwhile, the HomeView smart display and updated Apple TV are scheduled to arrive November 13.
With the October 28 event now confirmed and Apple’s marketing chief openly teasing Pro hardware, MacBook Pro buyers won’t have much longer to wait to see what’s coming.
