If you follow Formula 1 or you are gearing up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Apple quietly dropped an update to its Sports app that you will want to check out right now.
Version 3.10 of the Apple Sports app rolled out today, bringing a couple of genuinely useful additions.
Let’s walk through what changed and why it matters for your day-to-day sports experience.

F1 Fans Finally Get Weather Data Right Inside the App
If you watch Formula 1, you already know how much race conditions depend on the weather. Track temperature, wind speed, rain probability… all of that can completely flip the strategy for every team on the grid.
Apple now surfaces that information directly in the Sports app for each Grand Prix weekend, so you no longer have to bounce between apps trying to piece it together yourself.
Just open Apple Sports, head to your F1 section, and the weather details will be right there waiting for you before the lights go out.
We’ve Got Smaller Widgets
The second update is all about flexibility. Apple Sports now offers smaller widget sizes for your iPhone Home Screen, which means you can tuck a live scores widget into tighter spaces without it taking over half your screen.
The bigger deal here might actually be CarPlay. iOS 26 added widget support to CarPlay, and you can access them by swiping right on the CarPlay interface until you land on the Dashboard screen.
With this update, Apple Sports joins the lineup of apps that can live there, letting you keep an eye on scores for your favorite teams and leagues while you drive, without ever picking up your phone.
For the World Cup Fans
Apple is also nudging users to start following their favorite national teams ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off on June 11.
You can browse the groups, follow specific countries, and get everything set up in Apple Sports before the tournament officially begins.
Given how packed the schedule tends to get during a World Cup, having your favorites already tracked ahead of time saves you a lot of scrambling later.
Who Can Use Apple Sports?
The app is available on iPhone in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and a wide range of countries across Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
It covers a broad mix of leagues and sports, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NASCAR, F1, Premier League, PGA TOUR, and more.
If you have not downloaded it yet, you can find it on the App Store. The update is free and already live, so go ahead and grab it before the next race weekend or World Cup group stage match rolls around.
