I’ve been a loyal Spotify user for over a decade. From college road trip playlists to random late-night jam sessions, my library has years of memories.
And even though I’m fully invested in the Apple ecosystem, using an iPhone 15 Pro, MacBook, AirPods, you name it, I’ve never been able to ditch Spotify.
One reason was the idea of losing all my carefully curated playlists. That kind of reset felt painful, but Apple might’ve finally devised a solution.
Apple started rolling out a new built-in transfer tool that lets people directly move their music libraries and playlists from services like Spotify into Apple Music.
It’s not a clunky third-party workaround; it’s actually built right into Apple Music on iPhone, iPad, and Android.
On an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Apps > Apple Music, and there’s a new option: “Transfer Music from Other Music Services.”
You can access this feature through the settings directly inside the Apple Music app on Android.
From there, you can choose what to bring over, and Apple does the heavy lifting, matching tracks in its own library.
But here’s the catch—it’s only available in Australia and New Zealand for now. The good news? It’s likely to roll out to more countries soon.

Based on Apple’s own support doc, the tool doesn’t touch your original playlists on Spotify or other music services. It just copies them into Apple Music. That means no risk of losing anything, and no more starting from scratch if you decide to switch.
Apple is partnering with SongShift behind the scenes, which is a smart move. That app has been around for years doing exactly this kind of thing, and now it’s finally integrated where it always should’ve been: inside Apple Music itself.
For someone like me, deep into the Apple world but still clinging to Spotify, it finally feels like Apple’s making room for me to come over.
If this rolls out globally soon (and it looks like it will), I might actually make the jump. And if you’ve ever wanted to do the same, this could be the moment.
