Apple could raise iPhone 17 prices as soon as Monday, August 10, according to a new supply chain report.

The August 10 date is not confirmed. The claim is being described as a rumor circulating among people in Apple’s supply chain, so it is worth treating the timing cautiously.

Apple has already raised prices on several Macs and iPads this year as memory and storage costs climb. The iPhone 17 lineup was left out of those increases.

The timing is unusual

A price increase would come at an unusual point in the iPhone 17 cycle.

Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone in September. The regular iPhone 18 and a cheaper iPhone 18e are expected to follow in spring 2027.

That means the iPhone 17 lineup could remain on sale alongside newer models for longer than usual.

The current lineup starts at $599 for the iPhone 17e and runs up to $1,199 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 17 costs $799, while the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro start at $999 and $1,099, respectively.

It is not clear whether Apple would raise prices across the entire lineup or target specific models. The rumor also does not say how much prices could increase.

Production plans may also be changing

The same post claims Apple has scaled back plans to increase production capacity on certain lines.

According to the claim, Apple had planned to increase capacity from 15% to 30% but has since reversed that decision. It does not identify the products or components involved.

That follows a separate report from July that Apple had lowered its iPhone 17 demand forecast as higher hardware costs put pressure on the lineup.

For now, the August 10 price increase remains unconfirmed. Anyone planning to buy an iPhone 17 at its current price may want to keep an eye on Apple’s store over the next few days.
