If you bought Apple’s iPhone Duo on launch day and are having second thoughts, you may have already missed your chance to return it.
The standard 14-day return window for iPhone Duo purchases made on October 23 expired Friday, November 6, leaving launch-day buyers outside Apple’s usual return period.
However, not everyone faces the same deadline. Depending on when you received your device, where you purchased it, and which country you’re in, you may still have time to request a return.
Some iPhone Duo Buyers Still Have Time
Apple’s standard U.S. return policy gives customers 14 calendar days from the date they receive a product, rather than the date they place an order.
That means anyone whose iPhone Duo arrived after October 23 will have a later return deadline.
Canadian buyers generally get an extra day under Apple’s return policy, making the deadline for October 23 purchases Saturday, November 7.
If you’re unsure whether your return window is still open, check your delivery confirmation or Apple’s online Order Status page.
UK and EU Online Buyers Have More Flexibility
Customers in the UK and European Union who purchased their iPhone Duo online benefit from additional consumer protections.
Under the standard 14-day withdrawal rules, buyers generally need to notify Apple of their decision to cancel within 14 days of receiving the device.
Once they notify Apple, they have another 14 days to return the product.
These protections also apply to eligible online orders collected at an Apple Store.
Purchases made directly inside a physical Apple Store are generally subject to Apple’s standard retail return policy instead.
What to Check Before Returning Your iPhone Duo
If your return window is still open, there are a few things to take care of before sending the device back.
- Disable Find My: Apple requires Find My to be turned off before accepting a return.
- Gather the original packaging: Include the accessories and other items that came with your iPhone Duo.
- Start the return: Visit Apple’s online Order Status page or contact an Apple Store about returning an eligible purchase.
- Check your cellular plan: Returning the iPhone doesn’t automatically cancel service with your carrier.
These rules apply to purchases made directly from Apple. If you bought your iPhone Duo through a carrier or another retailer, you’ll need to follow that seller’s return policy.
For launch-day buyers whose standard return period has expired, Apple is no longer obligated to accept a routine change-of-mind return.
However, separate rights may still apply if the device is defective or doesn’t meet applicable consumer protection requirements.
