We’ve all been there—taking a quick screenshot to remember something, only to forget about it until our Photos app is overflowing with random images.

Managing these screenshots can feel daunting, especially when they pile up over time. But what if there was a way to keep your photo library tidy without lifting a finger? Enter the “Screenshot Declutter” shortcut.

This handy little tool is your new best friend for keeping your screenshots in check and freeing up space on your iPhone.

In just a few simple steps, you can create a shortcut that automatically detects and deletes screenshots taken on the current day, ensuring your photo library stays organized.

Step 1: Create the Shortcut

The first step is to create a new shortcut. Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone, tap the “+” icon to start a new shortcut, and name it “Screenshot Declutter.

Step 2: Find the Screenshots

Next, you’ll need to add the “Find Photos” action. This is where the magic happens.

You’ll add a filter to ensure the shortcut only deletes screenshots and none of your precious dog photos. Tap “Add Filter” and select “Is a Screenshot” from the dropdown list.

We’ll add another filter allowing the shortcut to scan your photo library and identify screenshots taken on the current day.

Press and hold on to the date, then choose “Current Date” from the dropdown list. This ensures that only the most recent screenshots are selected, leaving your other images untouched.

Also: Your iPhone can now resize any images (without using a computer or a third-party app)

Step 3: Delete Screenshots

Now that the shortcut can identify the specific screenshots, you’ll add one final action to instruct it to delete those screenshots.

Tap the search bar at the bottom, type “Delete Photos,” and then select it from the results.

Below is a photo of the shortcut in action. It successfully identified the screenshots I took today and prompted me before proceeding to delete them.

Wrap Up

With these three simple steps, you’ve created a powerful tool that keeps your Photos app neat and organized.

No more scrolling through endless screenshots to find the pictures that matter. The “Screenshot Declutter” shortcut is a game-changer for anyone who values a tidy photo library.
