Verizon has confirmed it will charge $10 per month for iPhone Handoff, Apple’s new iOS 27 feature that lets two iPhones share a single phone number.
That’s twice what T-Mobile charges for the same service, adding another monthly expense for customers who want to switch between two devices.
The carrier revealed the pricing alongside its iPhone Duo announcement, confirming support for both the foldable iPhone and iPhone 18 Pro. Verizon says the service is “coming soon,” with availability expected before the end of the year.
iPhone Handoff lets users move their active phone number between a primary iPhone and a companion device without maintaining two separate lines.
Only one phone can use the number at a time, but you can switch between devices whenever needed.
Verizon Customers Will Pay $120 a Year
T-Mobile already offers iPhone Handoff for $5 per month, making Verizon’s $10 monthly charge considerably harder to justify. Over a year, Verizon customers will pay $120 for a feature that costs T-Mobile subscribers just $60.
AT&T customers don’t currently have the same option. The carrier has indicated it has no immediate plans to support iPhone Handoff, leaving T-Mobile as the only major U.S. carrier offering the feature today.
Outside the U.S., pricing varies. EE in the U.K. charges £5 per month but includes Handoff at no additional cost with its Full Works Plus plan.
Germany’s Deutsche Telekom charges €6.95 monthly, with the feature included in its MagentaMobil L and XL plans.
Why iPhone Duo Owners Might Want It
The feature is particularly useful for anyone planning to carry Apple’s new foldable alongside a traditional iPhone.
Someone could use the compact iPhone Duo while traveling or running errands, then switch their number to an iPhone 18 Pro when they need its more advanced cameras or other features. Both phones stay on the same number without requiring a second wireless line.
That convenience comes at a price, however. For Verizon subscribers, moving one phone number between two iPhones adds $120 annually to their wireless bill, compared with $60 on T-Mobile.
Verizon hasn’t announced an exact availability date for iPhone Handoff, but support is expected before the end of 2026.
