Apple Designed 2 Cases for Its $1,999 iPhone Duo, but Neither Protects the One Part Foldable Buyers May Be Most Nervous About

Apple has unveiled two first-party cases for the iPhone Duo, its new foldable device, giving buyers a choice between a slim wraparound case and a fabric folio that doubles as a stand.

The iPhone Duo Case is a two-piece polycarbonate shell with a matte finish that covers both the front and back of the device.

It attaches using built-in magnets aligned with the iPhone Duo’s own magnet array, which Apple describes as a “magical attach experience.” The case comes in Sand and Navy Blue.

The Folio Option

The Folio with Kickstand takes a different approach. Built from TechWoven, Apple’s proprietary technical fabric, it covers only the back of the phone rather than wrapping the edges.

An integrated kickstand folds flush when not in use and can be propped at multiple angles for reading, watching video, or video calls.

Apple says MagSafe charging works even when the kickstand is deployed, and the phone is propped open, removing a common friction point with stand-style cases. The Folio is available in Taupe and Navy Blue.

Both accessories use the same magnetic alignment system, and Apple says each goes through thousands of hours of testing during design and manufacturing, consistent with its broader case lineup.

Design Trade-offs Worth Knowing

The Folio with Kickstand is priced at $129, and its design fully covers the front display when closed, which some buyers may find limiting given the iPhone Duo’s foldable form factor.

The wraparound Case takes a more conventional protection-first approach but lacks a built-in stand.

Neither accessory addresses the hinge directly, the most exposed part of a foldable device and a point some users have already flagged. Whether Apple plans a separate hinge-specific accessory has not been announced.

Availability

Both accessories are listed on Apple’s website but are not yet available for purchase. Pre-order availability has not been confirmed, though both will presumably open alongside or shortly after iPhone Duo pre-orders.

The standard iPhone Duo Case has no listed price yet, while the Folio with Kickstand is confirmed at $129.
