Apple is preparing a two-day event in Los Angeles on October 27 and 28, with a redesigned MacBook Pro, updated iMac, and eighth-generation iPad mini expected to headline its final major product announcements of 2026.
The upcoming showcase could bring some of the biggest changes to the MacBook Pro in years, including an OLED touchscreen, Dynamic Island, and a thinner, lighter design.
MacBook Pro could get its biggest redesign in years
Apple is expected to introduce redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models featuring OLED displays and touchscreen support, both firsts for the lineup.
The laptops could also adopt Dynamic Island, replacing the familiar notch with an interactive area for notifications and system controls.
The new machines are expected to feature M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, with a lighter design than current models.
Apple is also considering built-in cellular connectivity using its own modem technology, potentially allowing MacBook Pro owners to access mobile networks without relying on an iPhone hotspot.
A separate 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip is also expected, offering an updated option for buyers who don’t need the more powerful Pro and Max configurations.
Unlike Apple’s traditional livestreamed keynotes, the Los Angeles event will reportedly focus on hands-on demonstrations for invited content creators.
New iMac and iPad mini also expected
Apple is also preparing a refreshed 24-inch iMac powered by the M6 chip, along with new color options.
The iPad mini 8 could get an even bigger upgrade, with an OLED display, an A20 Pro chip, a landscape-oriented front camera, redesigned speakers, and improved water resistance.
Those improvements may come at a higher price. One estimate suggests the OLED model could cost as much as $200 more than the current iPad mini, potentially pushing its starting price above the iPad Air.
Mac Studio refresh coming later this month
Apple is also expected to update the Mac Studio in late October, with configurations reportedly supporting up to 512GB of unified memory.
That capacity would appeal to professionals working with large AI models, video projects, and other memory-intensive applications.
The Los Angeles showcase follows Apple’s October 13 smart home event in New York, where the company is expected to introduce its HomeView hub, second-generation HomePod mini, and updated Apple TV 4K.
With new Macs, an upgraded iPad mini, and several smart home devices on the calendar, Apple is preparing a busy finish to 2026.
