Apple is expected to release iOS 27.2 next week, bringing three improvements to FaceTime, Apple Podcasts, and the TV app that make everyday features easier to use.
The update expands FaceTime’s dual-camera capability to group calls, reorganizes podcast episodes, and finally introduces user profiles in the TV app on iPhone.
Here’s what’s changing.
1. FaceTime Dual Capture Expands to Group Calls
One of the more interesting additions in iOS 27 was Dual Capture, which lets compatible iPhones stream video from the front and rear cameras simultaneously during FaceTime calls.
Until now, it only worked during one-on-one conversations. With iOS 27.2, you’ll be able to use it during Group FaceTime calls as well.
To activate Dual Capture, tap the Flip button during a call. Your iPhone will keep the front camera active while showing everyone what the rear camera sees.
That means you can show friends or family what’s happening around you without disappearing from the conversation.
2. Apple Podcasts Separates New and Unfinished Episodes
Finding an unfinished podcast episode can be frustrating when it’s buried among new releases in the Up Next queue.
iOS 27.2 addresses that problem by reorganizing the Podcasts app’s Home tab into two sections:
- New Episodes: Shows the latest releases from podcasts you follow.
- Continue Playing: Keeps episodes you’ve started but haven’t finished in one place.
The separation makes it easier to resume listening without scrolling through newly released episodes or searching for something you were listening to earlier.
3. Apple TV Finally Gets User Profiles on iPhone
The TV app is also gaining a feature that’s been available on Apple TV hardware for years: individual user profiles.
Each profile keeps its own watch history, Up Next queue, and personalized recommendations, so one person’s viewing habits don’t affect another’s.
The change is particularly useful for families. When a child selects their profile, the app limits browsing and recommendations to age-appropriate Apple content while keeping the parent’s viewing history separate.
A profile selection screen will appear when you open the app, but you can disable the prompt if you don’t need it.
Apple hasn’t confirmed an exact release date for iOS 27.2, but it’s expected to arrive next week.
Unlike iOS 27.1, which was released exclusively for the iPhone Duo, iOS 27.2 will be available across the broader lineup of compatible iPhones.
