Apple has revealed more than 50 third-party apps optimized for the iPhone Duo or scheduled to receive updates in the coming weeks, addressing concerns from early reviewers about limited app support for its first foldable iPhone.
The newly published list of compatible apps arrives just ahead of the Duo’s October 23 retail launch and includes familiar names such as Netflix, Zoom, Slack, Prime Video, and Instagram.
Rather than simply stretching existing iPhone interfaces across a larger screen, developers are adapting their apps to take advantage of the Duo’s 7.6-inch inner display and different folding positions.
How Popular Apps Will Work on iPhone Duo
Netflix is introducing an experience that lets users browse short vertical video clips on the outer display before unfolding the phone to watch content on the larger screen.

Prime Video is also taking advantage of the expanded layout, while the MLB app received an update this week that displays live games alongside scores and statistics across the inner display.

Productivity apps are getting similar improvements. Zoom can show meeting participants and shared content simultaneously, reducing the need to switch between views during calls.
Lyft and Slack are also among the apps being adapted for the larger screen.

Other confirmed apps include Flighty, Fantastical, Things, Bear, Notewise, SmartGym, Airmail, Paramount+, PGA Tour, Instagram, Edits, NYT Cooking, DoorDash, OpenTable, Yelp, and several airline apps.
Games such as Sneaky Sasquatch and Retrocade are also included.
Microsoft Word and Outlook Updates Coming Soon
Microsoft is preparing more substantial changes to Word and Outlook, with both apps expected to receive what Apple calls a “desktop-class experience” in the coming weeks.
Word will display formatting controls alongside the open document, while Outlook will let users view their inbox and a selected email at the same time.
These layouts take advantage of the Duo’s tablet-sized screen, making it easier to work without constantly opening and closing menus.
All existing iPhone apps can run on the Duo, although their layouts will vary depending on how recently they were updated. Apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK are expected to offer better support for the foldable’s dual-display design.
The announcement follows early reviews that raised concerns about how few apps seemed fully prepared for the new hardware.
While Apple’s list shows growing developer support, some of the most useful updates won’t arrive until after launch, meaning early buyers may need to wait before experiencing everything the foldable’s larger screen can offer.
