Apple’s first foldable iPhone could start at $2,099 to $2,299, with higher-end configurations potentially topping $3,000, according to TrendForce.
Apple is widely expected to unveil the device at its September 9 event. The phone, reportedly called the iPhone Ultra, would easily eclipse the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s $1,199 starting price, making it the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever sold.
According to the report, the foldable would feature a 7.8-inch inner display with ProMotion and refresh rates up to 120Hz, along with a 5.5-inch OLED cover screen.
Powering it would be Apple’s A20 Pro chip, built on TSMC’s 2nm process, paired with 12GB of RAM. Storage could range from 256GB to 2TB.
The camera setup reportedly includes 48-megapixel wide and ultra-wide cameras, along with a 24-megapixel front-facing camera. Touch ID could also return.
At those prices, Apple’s foldable would go head-to-head with premium devices from Samsung and Google. Both companies have spent years selling foldables, but the category remains a relatively small part of the broader smartphone market.
That makes Apple’s entry a particularly interesting test. The company has stayed out of the foldable market while Samsung and others have worked to establish the category, and it will now have to convince existing iPhone buyers that a foldable is worth paying significantly more for.
Whether Apple’s ecosystem and brand loyalty can overcome that price gap will become clear once the phone reaches consumers.
