Have you messed around with Live Text yet? I know that Apple drops all these features, and half the time, I forget that they exist until I really need them. But Live Text? It’s low-key, one of the most useful things on the iPhone right now.
Like the other day, I was trying to connect to my cousin’s Wi-Fi. The password was this long, ridiculous mix of letters and numbers stuck to the back of the router in tiny print.
Instead of typing it all in (and messing up three times), I just pointed my camera at it, tapped the little Live Text icon, copied it, and boom—done. No stress. No typos.
Here’s How It Works (If You’re Not Using It Yet)

Honestly, it’s super simple:
- Open your Camera app and aim it at any text—like a sign, a label, whatever.
- When you see the yellow brackets pop up, tap the Live Text icon (you’ll see it in the bottom corner).
- You can copy, look up, translate… even call a number right from the image.
I’ve used it to grab text from receipts for budgeting, phone numbers from posters at the laundromat, and even ingredients from a food package for grocery orders.
This little trick will come in handy when taking notes or sending messages. It even works on stuff you’ve already taken pictures of—just go to Photos and try it.
Seriously, It Saves Time
I slept on this for a while, but now I use it way more than I expected. It’s like—why would I type anything if my phone can just do it?
By the way, it also works on handwritten notes. I copied my kid’s school list straight from the fridge, and I didn’t have to retype a thing.
Anyway, just try it. Look for that Live Text icon next time you snap a picture of something with text. It’s not flashy, but once you start using it, it’s hard to stop.
