Siri is much more useful in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, with new AI features that can handle tasks that used to require several apps.
You can now compare documents, find emails using vague descriptions, organize travel plans, and turn photos into useful information.
Here are five practical ways to put Siri’s new capabilities to work.
1. Compare PDF documents and find important changes
Ever received an updated contract or agreement and wondered exactly what changed? Comparing two lengthy PDFs line by line can be tedious, especially when the differences are buried in pages of nearly identical text.
On a Mac, select both PDF files, right-click, and choose Ask Siri. Ask it to compare the documents and highlight any changes to payment terms, deadlines, or other important clauses.
You can then ask follow-up questions about specific differences, including where they appear in the documents.
2. Search emails and organize travel plans
You can describe an email in everyday language instead of remembering its exact sender or subject line.
For example, ask Siri to find an invitation a colleague sent about an upcoming party. Once it finds the message, you can ask it to draft a reply.
Siri can also collect flight details, hotel addresses, and rental car reservations from separate confirmation emails and organize everything into a single note.
The information stays in Notes, where you can review or share it with family members traveling together.
3. Find, edit, and share photos using descriptions
Finding a particular photo among thousands can be frustrating, especially when you can’t remember when you took it. Siri now lets you describe what you’re looking for instead of scrolling through months or years of pictures.
For example, ask Siri to find photos of your family at the beach last summer or pictures from a birthday dinner.
Once it finds them, you can ask it to edit or share selected shots without having to search through your library again.
4. Turn photos into calendar events and notes
Take a picture of a printed schedule, then ask Siri to add the listed appointments or events to Calendar.
On iPhone, you can use Siri directly from the Camera app after you capture the image, so you don’t have to enter each date and time individually.
The same approach works for product information. Photograph a device label showing its model and serial number, then ask Siri to extract those details and save them to a specific note.
This is particularly useful for keeping warranty information and product details organized.
5. Ask Siri about anything on your screen
Visual Intelligence lets Siri analyze screenshots and answer questions about what you’re viewing.
On iPhone, press the side button and volume-up button together to capture the screen and access the visual tools.
On Mac, use Command-Shift-Space to select a window or Command-Shift-6 to select a specific portion of the screen.
You can ask Siri to explain unfamiliar information, identify objects or landmarks, or search online for similar images.
These capabilities require a compatible device running iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27. More complex requests may take longer to process, particularly on older supported hardware.
