Apple Fitness+ is moving beyond guided workout videos with a new feature that creates personalized strength-training plans based on your goals, experience, and available gym equipment.
Called “Gym Strength”, the feature arrives with iOS 27.3 and builds a four-week training program tailored to how often you want to exercise and what you’re trying to achieve.
Instead of choosing individual workout videos, subscribers get a structured plan with specific exercises, sets, repetitions, and suggested weights.
A Four-Week Workout Plan Built Around You
Gym Strength starts by asking about your fitness goals, training experience, available equipment, and how many days per week you want to work out.
Using those details, Apple Fitness+ generates a personalized four-week program.
Each session includes recommended exercises, sets, reps, and weights, along with short demonstration videos from Fitness+ trainers to help users perform movements correctly.
The program also adapts as you progress.
Rather than repeating the same workouts every week, Gym Strength adjusts upcoming sessions based on your performance during previous workouts.
That makes it more flexible than following a fixed training schedule, particularly for people whose strength or training needs change over time.
Apple Watch Lets You Track Sets From Your Wrist
For Apple Watch owners, Gym Strength integrates directly with the Workout experience.
During a session, your watch can display:
- Current exercise: See which movement comes next.
- Sets and reps: Follow the prescribed workout without checking your iPhone.
- Suggested weight: View the recommended load for each exercise.
- Workout logging: Record completed sets directly from your wrist.
The watch also tracks familiar workout metrics, including heart rate and active calories.
One limitation is that Apple Watch doesn’t automatically count repetitions. You’ll still need to log your completed sets manually.
When Will Gym Strength Be Available?
Gym Strength is part of iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, and watchOS 27.3 and requires an Apple Fitness+ subscription.
The feature is included in the current beta software, with a wider release expected in December.
For subscribers who primarily train with weights, Gym Strength fills a noticeable gap in Fitness+, which has traditionally focused on instructor-led classes rather than personalized gym training programs.
