Apple’s long-awaited Health app redesign is back in testing with iOS 27.3, after the company unexpectedly removed it from the iOS 27.2 beta before that update reached the public.
First previewed in September, the redesigned Health app introduces two major sections, Longevity and Insights, along with Apple Intelligence features that help users better understand their health data.
Longevity Tab Introduces Health Age
The new Longevity tab evaluates health across seven categories: heart health, sleep, mental wellbeing, movement, metabolic health, hearing, and nutrition.
Its standout feature is Health Age, which estimates how your physical health compares with your chronological age.
The calculation draws on several health measurements, including resting heart rate, VO2 max, heart rate variability, sleep patterns, and blood biomarkers.
Users can contribute data from multiple sources:
- Apple Watch health measurements.
- Fitness assessments performed using the iPhone camera.
- Manually uploaded lab results.
- Medical records synced with the Health app.
Apple also plans to offer a $119 blood panel through Quest Diagnostics, with results feeding directly into Health Age.
Insights Tab Adds Personalized Guidance and Readiness Scores
The second major addition, Insights, brings recent health measurements together in one place, including Activity Rings, heart rate, sleep scores, and vital signs.
Apple Intelligence uses this information to generate Personal Guidance, offering recommendations based on individual health goals and activity patterns.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 owners will also receive a daily readiness score to help determine whether they’re prepared for an intense workout or would benefit from recovery.
The Vitals section has also been updated with separate daytime and overnight views, alongside two heart rate variability measurements: overall HRV and recovery HRV.
Why Apple Delayed the Redesigned Health App
Apple previously included the redesign in iOS 27.2 beta builds but removed it before the public release in October, without explaining the decision.
Its return in iOS 27.3 suggests the company is preparing to deliver the update before the end of 2026, as originally promised.
iOS 27.3 is expected to arrive in December, although Apple hasn’t confirmed a release date.
More Languages Coming With iOS 27.3
The redesigned Health app is also expanding beyond its initial English-only availability.
Supported languages will include English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
The new experience requires an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone. For now, it’s available only through the iOS 27.3 beta.
