Apple’s new HomeView can display live feeds from up to nine security cameras on a single screen, letting homeowners quickly check what’s happening around the house.

That’s one of seven display faces Apple has introduced for its $299 smart home hub. Others include a digital photo frame and animated Snoopy scenes that change with the weather and time of day.

Seven faces give HomeView a different look and purpose

The available faces range from decorative animations to practical controls for managing your home.

  • Photos turns HomeView into a digital picture frame, displaying images with Portrait-style depth effects. It also supports Shared Albums, allowing friends and family to contribute photos remotely.
  • Flow creates an ambient display that responds to movement nearby, shifting colors and light as people walk through the room.
  • Snoopy brings animated characters to the screen, with scenes that change depending on the time of day, weather, sporting events, and upcoming holidays.
  • Calendar displays your schedule, while Weather provides an at-a-glance view of current conditions.
  • Home Modular gives you quick access to favorite smart home accessories without opening the Home app.
  • Home Camera turns the display into a home security monitor, showing live video from up to nine cameras simultaneously.

Apple has also shown additional clock and widget layouts in promotional images, although it hasn’t identified them as separate faces.

The display changes as you approach it

HomeView’s interface is designed to show different amounts of information depending on how far away you’re standing.

From across the room, the screen presents larger, simplified information that’s easier to read at a distance. As you approach, it reveals additional details and controls.

The 7-inch Liquid Retina display also adjusts its brightness to suit the surroundings, reaching up to 500 nits in bright conditions and dimming to just 0.3 nits at night.

Apple says that’s the lowest brightness level it has ever offered on a device, helping HomeView stay visible without lighting up a dark bedroom.

Some faces also change appearance between morning and evening, making the display feel less static throughout the day.

HomeView is available for preorder in tabletop and wall-mounted versions, both priced at $299, with deliveries beginning November 13. The wall-mounted model requires a separately purchased power solution.
