Apple has confirmed a product launch for Tuesday, October 13, teasing the announcement with the tagline “Welcome home” as it prepares what could be its biggest smart home push in years.
The official announcement was shared by Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak, with select media invited to an Apple Experience in New York City at 9 a.m. ET.
Apple hasn’t revealed which products will be introduced, but the home-focused teaser points toward a new smart home hub, an updated HomePod mini, and a refreshed Apple TV 4K.
A New Smart Home Hub
The most anticipated product is Apple’s long-awaited home hub, a device designed to bring smart home controls, Siri, and everyday information together on a dedicated screen.
The hub is expected to feature a 6-inch square display for managing connected devices, making FaceTime calls, checking calendars, and viewing news or weather.
A built-in camera and presence sensor could recognize when someone approaches and display personalized information based on who’s nearby.
Apple is reportedly developing two versions: one that mounts on a wall and another with a speaker base designed to sit on a desk or countertop. The tabletop model has been compared to the distinctive half-dome design of the iMac G4.
Pricing is rumored to be around $350, potentially positioning the hub as a central controller for households already invested in Apple’s ecosystem.
HomePod and Apple TV Upgrades
The HomePod mini is also expected to receive its first major hardware refresh in years, with a faster S-series chip, improved wireless connectivity through Apple’s N1 networking chip, and additional color options.
Those improvements could help the compact speaker support Apple’s redesigned Siri and new AI features.
Meanwhile, the next Apple TV 4K is rumored to feature an A19-series processor, more memory, and the N1 chip, along with an updated Siri Remote.
Both products would complement the new hub as Apple expands its smart home lineup.
What to Expect October 13
Apple’s media gathering takes place Tuesday at 9 a.m. ET in Tribeca, New York, where invited journalists are expected to get hands-on time with the new devices.
It’s still unclear whether Apple plans to livestream a presentation or introduce the products through press releases and demonstrations.
The announcement comes during an unusually busy October for Apple, with iPhone Duo preorders scheduled for October 16 and availability beginning October 23.
