Apple is preparing to unveil its first new Apple TV 4K in nearly four years, with a faster processor, upgraded wireless connectivity, and AI-powered Siri expected to headline the announcement.
The next-generation Apple TV 4K is expected to debut Tuesday, October 13, during Apple’s “Welcome Home” event in New York, replacing the model introduced in October 2022.
A major chip upgrade could bring AI-powered Siri
The biggest upgrade is expected to be an A19 or A19 Pro chip, replacing the A15 Bionic in the current model.
RAM could also increase from 4GB to somewhere between 8GB and 12GB, providing the processing power and memory needed for Apple’s more advanced Siri features.
Apple’s N1 networking chip is also expected, bringing Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 support. That could mean faster wireless connections and lower latency for users with compatible routers and accessories.
Externally, the Apple TV 4K is expected to retain its familiar black design. However, references found in Apple’s software suggest a revised Siri Remote may accompany the new hardware, although details remain unknown.
A faster Apple TV at a higher price
Apple raised the starting price of the current Apple TV 4 K from $129 to $199 in June, citing rising memory costs. It’s unclear whether the new generation will retain that price or cost even more.
The announcement is also expected to include a second-generation HomePod mini and Apple’s long-awaited smart home hub, featuring a roughly 7-inch touchscreen for controlling accessories and making video calls.
Apple’s “Welcome Home” event begins October 13 at 9 a.m. Eastern, with invited press and creators expected to get hands-on time with the new devices.
