Apple’s next-generation CarPlay experience, CarPlay Ultra, is finally here, and it’s everything iPhone users hoped for.
With deeper integration, more customization, and full control over climate, seats, media, and navigation, it turns your car’s dashboard into an extension of your iPhone. It’s sleek, smart, and, yes, very Apple.
But while many automakers have pledged support, some major names, not just the usual suspects like Tesla, are withholding their support.

If you’re planning to upgrade your ride soon and CarPlay Ultra matters to you, you’ll want to take a close look at this list.
As of now, the following automakers have no public plans to support CarPlay Ultra:
- BMW
- Buick
- BYD
- Cadillac
- Chevrolet
- Chrysler
- Dodge, Fiat
- GMC
- Jeep
- Lexus
- Mazda
- Mercedes-Benz (backed out)
- RAM
- Rivian
- Subaru
- Suzuki
- Tesla
- Toyota
- Volkswagen
That’s not a small group. In fact, some of these brands, like Toyota, Mercedes, and VW, are among the most popular globally. Many of them do support standard CarPlay, which is still better than nothing.

But CarPlay Ultra goes far beyond the usual Apple Maps and Now Playing screen. It’s about full dashboard control and a seamless, all-in-one experience that feels native, not tacked on.
For Apple fans, this matters. Your iPhone is already central to how you work, navigate, and stay connected. CarPlay Ultra is Apple doubling down on its ecosystem, only this time, it’s doing it from the driver’s seat.
Of course, this doesn’t mean these brands will never support it. Plans change, and some could come around in a year or two.
But if you’re deep in the Apple ecosystem and want the full CarPlay Ultra experience sooner rather than later, your best bet is to shop from already committed brands.
