It’s been a tradition, every year Apple holds a conference to introduce the latest version of its iOS operating system and products.

iOS 11 was one of the big things that Apple unveiled at its WWDC 2017 keynote, which is due to arrive later this year.

Big news for Apple fans, this new iOS version brings a plethora of new features. Let’s take a look at the 5 best new features of iOS 11.

File Management

If there is one thing that has been a pain in the neck for iPhone users, for sure it has been file management. Apple has finally taken the pain away with iOS 11. There won’t be an iCloud Drive App in iOS 11 because it has been replaced by a more complete Files App.

The File Management will basically look and act the same as the macOS Finder. You’ll find pretty much all your content within this App, and also other cloud storage services like Dropbox, Box, and iCloud Drive.

App Store Redesign

The App Store got a total redesign that has changed the look of the App Store, but not too much since it looks kind of similar to the Apple Music App.

It will have 3 new sections (Today tab, Games tab, Apps tab) along with the other two standards tabs (Updates, Search) that we’re familiar with.

The Today Tab, the default upfront, is updated on a daily basis; you’ll find guides, tips, flashcards, and interviews with developers.

Games now have a dedicated section The Games Tab, where you’ll find the latest and most popular games.

It seems like they’re giving games special attention in the App Store. In the Apps tab, you’ll find different categories, and suggested sections where you can browse for apps.

Siri Improvements

Apple is putting all they got into its voice assistant with every update. Now, Siri is improved and faster. Siri sounds more human, and translation is now supported.

With the on-device learning capabilities, Siri will be able to better understand your preference and predict what you might need next.

Privacy has always been one of the core values of Apple, and Siri, it’s no exception. iOS 11 will make sure what you discuss with Siri and what Siri has learned from you stay private, regardless of syncing across all iOS devices thanks to end-to-end encryption.

Control Center New Design

The Control Center got a major update with an entirely new look. Now it’s full screen and one screen with multiple toggles, and it’s fully customizable. Yes, that’s right! You can customize it, welcome Apple to the world of customization.

You can easily add, subtract, and rearrange toggles based on what is relevant to your needs. You’ll also be able to video-recording your screen right in the Control Center without the need for any third-party apps.

Apple Pay Improvements

Apple Pay will be integrated right into the iMessage App with the capability of Apple Pay Cash and person-to-person payment, which means you’ll be able to send and receive money right via the iMessage App.

There’s no need to use a third-party app anymore. Unfortunately, once it launches, it will only be available in the US.

There are certainly many other new features in iOS 11 like QR code scanning, safer driving mode, improved screenshot, comprehensive keyboard, lock screen, Maps, etc.

Keep in mind this update will only run on iPhones with an i7 chip or better, which means from iPhone 5S to the latest iPhone model.
