Apple is expanding Cycle Tracking in iOS 27 with a new feature designed to help identify signs of perimenopause using data already stored in the Health app.

The update analyzes long-term menstrual cycle patterns and can notify users when those patterns appear consistent with the hormonal changes associated with perimenopause.

Apple says the feature is intended to help users recognize potential changes earlier and better understand what may be happening in their bodies.

Perimenopause can begin years before menopause and is often accompanied by changes that may not immediately be recognized as part of a hormonal transition.

With iOS 27, users can log symptoms directly in the Health app and access educational resources on perimenopause.

The new capability builds on Apple’s existing Cycle Tracking tools, which first launched with iOS 13.

Over the years, Apple has expanded the feature set through additions such as wrist-temperature sensing on Apple Watch, allowing users to gain deeper insights into cycle patterns and ovulation estimates.

By drawing on long-term health data, the Health app can now look for trends that may indicate a transition toward perimenopause rather than simply recording individual cycle events.

The update arrives as part of a broader Health app refresh in iOS 27 that also includes performance improvements and interface refinements.

However, the addition of perimenopause notifications represents one of the most significant health-focused features Apple announced at WWDC 2026.

The feature reflects Apple’s broader effort to use health data not only for tracking and recordkeeping, but also to provide users with more meaningful insights based on patterns that emerge over time.
