Apple has launched AppleCare One Family, a $49.99 per month plan that extends AppleCare+ coverage to every eligible device across a Family Sharing group of up to six people, with no cap on the number of devices covered.
The plan is available now in the United States and delivers the same benefits as a standard AppleCare+ subscription, including accidental damage coverage and theft and loss protection for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
The same service fees and deductibles apply as with individual plans, and the family gets a combined allowance of up to six theft or loss claims per year across all covered devices.
How enrollment works
Any adult in a Family Sharing group can start the plan. Devices already covered by AppleCare at signup, along with any device purchased within the past 60 days, are automatically enrolled.
Devices up to four years old (or one year for AirPods and Beats) can also be added, though Apple may require a condition check first. Devices that fail that check cannot be enrolled.
All enrolled devices stay covered as long as the subscription remains active, but each device needs to connect to Apple’s servers at least once every 12 months.
Apple reserves the right to remove a device from the plan if replacement parts become unavailable for it. Coverage also ends for any device that gets signed out of a family member’s Apple Account and into an account outside the group.
The math for larger households
For families carrying multiple Apple devices, the single flat rate can represent a significant reduction in monthly spending.
AppleCare One, the $19.99 per month individual plan Apple introduced in July 2025, covers only three devices, with additional devices available at $5.99 per month each.
A household paying for four people on separate plans with extra devices could easily be spending double the new family rate.
Apple places almost no ceiling on the number of devices that can be added, with one notable exception: the plan covers a maximum of six Vision Pro headsets per family.
If Purchase Sharing is enabled in Family Sharing, the family organizer is billed automatically, though the plan subscriber can designate a separate payment method.
AppleCare One Family is currently limited to the United States, with no announced timeline for expansion to other markets. Apple’s support page lists additional terms and restrictions that apply to the plan.
