Apple announced AppleCare One Family on Wednesday, a new $ 49.99-per-month plan that extends AppleCare+ coverage to every eligible device owned by up to six people in a Family Sharing group, all under a single subscription.
The plan covers iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches, and includes the same protections as a standard AppleCare+ subscription: accidental damage coverage for drops and spills, battery replacement service, and access to priority Apple support.
The plan includes theft and loss protection for eligible iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch models.
Apple’s support documentation limits the group to six theft or loss claims per year combined, but does not cap accidental damage claims.
The plan effectively has no device limit. Any device less than four years old and in good working condition qualifies, and Apple adds newly purchased devices automatically at no extra cost.
The monthly price stays fixed regardless of how many products end up covered, which makes the per-device math increasingly favorable for households with multiple Apple products per person.
How it works for families
To use the plan, the primary subscriber sets up Family Sharing through the Settings app on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, then invites up to five other members.
Those members can add any eligible devices they already own to the same subscription, removing the need to purchase and track individual AppleCare plans for each person and device separately.
For a household where multiple people each carry an iPhone, Apple Watch, and iPad, the coverage-per-device cost drops considerably below what separate AppleCare+ subscriptions would cost.
A family of four or five with several devices each could be covering a dozen or more products for the same flat monthly fee.
Building on AppleCare One
AppleCare One Family expands on AppleCare One, which Apple launched in the United States in July 2025 for $19.99 per month and covers up to three devices for a single user.
Apple has since rolled out that plan to Australia, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The new family tier is currently available only in the U.S.
