Gotechtor's Editorial Guidelines

Whether you’re planning an event or throwing a surprise party, iMessage group chat is a great way to keep in touch with a group of people.

In an iMessage group chat, multiple people can receive and reply to these messages all in the same conversation thread.

Before you begin, check that your Apple device has the latest version of iOS, macOS, or iPadOS, which will ensure you can use all features of group messages.

You will also want to ensure that any group chat member is using an Apple device with iMessage turned on. Otherwise, not all of the features of group messaging will be accessible.

How to Make a Group Chat

Make sure that your device has the latest version of iOS, macOS, or iPadOS. If there’s any available update for your device, go ahead and install it. This will ensure you can use all features of group messages.

Here are the steps for creating a group chat:

How to Name a Group Chat

If you’re part of multiple group chats it can be difficult to find the right group chat or easy to pick up the wrong one. You don’t want to do that.

The steps below will help you give your group messages a memorable and relevant name to make them easier to find.

1. Open Messages, select a group text message, and tap on the top section of the thread where the names appear.
