Apple released the first beta of iOS 27.2 on Wednesday, skipping iOS 27.1 entirely to keep code for the upcoming iPhone Duo hidden ahead of that device’s October launch.
The beta still carries a meaningful payload: a redesigned Health app, Siri AI support in five new languages, Apple TV profiles for iPhone and iPad, and a handful of smaller interface changes across the system.
A New Health App
The biggest addition is the revamped Health app Apple previewed at its September iPhone event. It drops the previous layout for three tabs: Insights, Longevity, and Browse.
Insights surfaces current health data, including vitals, sleep score, heart rate, and Activity Rings. Longevity takes a longer view, calculating a Health Age from metrics like VO2 max, activity level, and sleep duration.
That Health Age number isn’t just pulled from existing sensor data. The app includes in-app assessments that use the iPhone’s camera to evaluate flexibility, strength, balance, and VO2 max. For now, the redesigned Health app is available only in U.S. English.
Siri AI Expands, TV App Gets Profiles
Siri AI, previously limited to English, now works in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish in the 27.2 beta. That brings Apple’s more advanced AI features within reach for a substantially larger portion of its global user base.
Apple TV app profiles, already available on Apple TV hardware, are coming to iPhone and iPad. Users can set up multiple profiles with a name and content rating, making it easier to hand a device to a child without worrying about age-inappropriate content.
Child profiles default to PG, with a customization option for more specific age-based rating controls. Sign language interpretation support has also been added to the TV app, available as a toggle in settings when the option exists for a given title.
Anniversary Reminders and CarPlay Themes
Apple Intelligence’s Call Context feature, which surfaces information about the person you’re calling, now includes anniversary alerts.
If a contact has an anniversary date stored in the Contacts app, a reminder appears in the Phone app during that call.
CarPlay Ultra gains theme options covering wallpaper, gauge style, and color. Code in the beta indicates that ambient interior lighting in supported vehicles will automatically match the selected CarPlay theme color.
Smaller Changes Throughout
A FaceTime API announced in May that lets sign language interpreter apps add a human interpreter to live video calls appears to be active in this beta.
In the Clock app, the a.m. and p.m. indicators are now displayed smaller than the time itself. Apple Music has shed more of its red accents, with Play and Shuffle buttons in the Library now appearing in black.
The Siri settings section renames “App Access” to “Excluded Apps” and lets users remove multiple apps from Siri, Search, and suggestions at once rather than one at a time.
In European markets, App Tracking Transparency gets an expanded alternative prompt required for users in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Romania, along with annual re-prompting. The iPhone Duo, which will ship with iOS 27.1, is still expected in October.
