Apple is preparing to release iOS 27.2 this week, bringing improvements to six built-in apps, including Messages, FaceTime, Apple TV, Home, Podcasts, and Games.
The update introduces smarter suggestions in Messages, expands FaceTime’s dual-camera feature, and finally brings individual viewing profiles to the Apple TV app on iPhone.
Here’s what you’ll be able to do once the update arrives.
1. Messages Gets Smarter Suggestions
One of the most useful additions is Suggested Actions, a feature that recognizes the context of incoming messages and recommends relevant shortcuts.
For example, if someone texts you about meeting for lunch, Messages could suggest creating a calendar event or reminder directly from the conversation.
Apple originally introduced Suggested Actions during iOS 27 beta testing but removed it before the public release.
It’s now returning with additional refinements, including settings that let users choose which suggestions appear.
2. FaceTime Dual Capture Works in Group Calls
Dual Capture lets compatible iPhones use the front and rear cameras simultaneously during FaceTime calls.
Previously limited to one-on-one conversations, the feature now supports Group FaceTime.
On iPhone 17 and newer models, tapping the camera Flip button activates both feeds, letting everyone on the call see you and what’s happening around you.
3. Apple TV Finally Adds User Profiles
The Apple TV app is getting individual user profiles on iPhone and iPad, bringing a feature already available on Apple TV hardware to mobile devices.
Each profile keeps its own viewing history and recommendations, preventing one person’s watching habits from affecting another’s.
A profile selection screen appears when opening the app, although users who don’t need it can disable the prompt.
4. Home Adds Two Useful Door Lock Automations
The Home app introduces two automations for compatible smart locks:
- Lock After Closing: Automatically locks a door after it’s been closed for a specified amount of time.
- Door Left Open: Sends a notification when a door remains open longer than the duration you choose.
These options provide more precise control than existing lock automations, particularly for households where doors are frequently left unlocked or accidentally left open.
5. Podcasts Makes Unfinished Episodes Easier to Find
Apple Podcasts is reorganizing its Home tab by separating the existing Up Next queue into two sections.
New Episodes displays recent releases from shows you follow, while Continue Playing collects episodes you’ve started but haven’t finished.
That makes it easier to resume listening without searching through newly released episodes.
6. Games Makes Your Library Easier to Navigate
The Games app will now show recently downloaded titles on its Home tab, even if you’ve never opened them.
Previously, games needed some play history before appearing in that section.
Apple is also improving how achievement progress and leaderboard scores appear, making both easier to check from the Home tab.
iOS 27.2 is expected to arrive next week, although Apple hasn’t confirmed an exact release date.
