Apple’s Weather app in iOS 27 is getting a layout overhaul that puts the most useful daily information on screen without requiring any extra taps.

The update, part of iOS 27 currently in developer beta, reorganizes how conditions such as rain and wind are displayed in both the hourly forecast and the 10-day outlook.

A Summary Section at the Top

A new Highlights section now sits at the top of the Weather app, surfacing the most relevant conditions for the day in one place.

Instead of scanning through multiple sections to piece together what to expect, users see that summary immediately when they open the app.

Rain and Wind Get Their Own Views

The hourly forecast area now supports three views: temperature, precipitation, and wind. Tapping over to precipitation shows an hour-by-hour breakdown of the probability of rain.

The wind view does the same for wind speed throughout the day. Previously, getting that level of detail required tapping into separate screens buried further down the app.

The 10-Day Forecast Adapts to Match

Switching between those condition views also updates the 10-day forecast section. When you select the wind view, the extended forecast shifts to show wind data across the next ten days rather than just daily high and low temperatures.

The same applies to precipitation. Users who want to plan around rain or wind across the week can now see that at a glance, instead of tapping into individual day cards.

A Larger Widget Option for the Home Screen

iOS 27 introduces an extra-large Home Screen widget size, and the Weather app supports it.

That option lets the Weather app occupy an entire app page on the Home Screen, displaying a significantly larger view of current and upcoming conditions without opening the app itself.

The extra-large widget size is new to iOS 27 and extends beyond Weather to other apps that choose to support it.

Apple did not add AI features to the Weather app in this update. The changes are limited to how existing forecast data is organized and displayed.

iOS 27 is currently available to developers and is expected to reach the general public in the fall of 2026.
