Apple has opened its Get Ready tool for the iPhone Duo, letting buyers prepare their orders before preorders begin October 16.
Starting October 12, you can choose your Duo configuration, carrier, accessories, and AppleCare+ coverage, then save your payment and delivery information ahead of time.
When preorders open at 5 a.m. Pacific, 8 a.m. Eastern on October 16, you’ll be able to return to the Apple Store and complete the purchase without setting everything up from scratch.
That could be particularly useful for the Duo. Reports have pointed to manufacturing constraints that could limit availability during the initial launch.
You can prepare almost the entire order in advance
Get Ready lets you select the iPhone Duo‘s color and storage capacity, confirm your carrier, add accessories, and choose an AppleCare+ plan.
You can also arrange a trade-in and save your payment method, billing address, and shipping information.
Once preorders open, those selections are already waiting in your account, cutting out several steps between entering the store and placing the order.
Get Ready doesn’t reserve an iPhone or guarantee launch-day availability. You’ll still need to return when preorders begin and complete the purchase.
For a product facing potential supply constraints, having those decisions and payment details out of the way could make a difference if particular configurations start slipping to later delivery dates.
Preorders open October 16
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 for 256GB, making it Apple’s most expensive iPhone.
Apple announced its first foldable on September 9, with a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch display when opened.
Preorders begin at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on October 16, with the iPhone Duo arriving in stores and reaching customers on October 23.
