Three more iPads are reportedly coming in the first half of 2027, with upgrades ranging from OLED displays to improved cooling and Apple Intelligence support.
Apple is planning updates to the iPad Air, iPad Pro, and entry-level iPad, following the launch of its redesigned OLED iPad mini this month.
Each model is expected to receive a different set of improvements, with the iPad Air potentially getting one of the biggest display upgrades.
iPad Air Could Finally Get an OLED Display
The next iPad Air is expected to switch from LCD to OLED, bringing deeper blacks, improved contrast, and richer colors to Apple’s mid-range tablet.
OLED technology first arrived on the iPad Pro, but expanding it to the Air would give buyers another option without paying Pro-level prices.
Apple is also expected to equip the new iPad Air with an M5 chip, although other specifications remain unclear.
iPad Pro Could Get Better Cooling With the M6 Chip
The next iPad Pro is reportedly getting a vapor chamber cooling system alongside Apple’s M6 chip.
Vapor chambers distribute heat across a larger surface area, helping processors maintain higher performance during demanding workloads without slowing down as quickly.
That could benefit users working with video editing, 3D rendering, and other processor-intensive apps.
Apple currently relies on passive cooling in its iPads, making vapor chamber technology a notable addition to the Pro lineup.
Entry-Level iPad Finally Gets Apple Intelligence
The upcoming iPad 12 could address one of the biggest limitations of Apple’s most affordable tablet: its lack of Apple Intelligence support.
The current model uses an A16 chip, which doesn’t meet the requirements for Apple’s AI features.
Its successor is expected to feature an A19 chip, along with Apple’s N1 wireless chip for Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. Cellular configurations could also gain the C1X modem.
These upgrades would bring the entry-level iPad closer to Apple’s more expensive models in everyday capabilities.
When Will the New iPads Arrive?
All three models are reportedly scheduled for the first half of 2027, potentially as early as spring. Apple hasn’t announced release dates or confirmed the upgrades.
They would follow the new OLED iPad mini, which arrives November 6 with an A20 Pro chip and thinner design.
The rumored changes could make the iPad Air particularly appealing to buyers who want an OLED screen without stepping up to the Pro, while the entry-level model would finally offer access to Apple Intelligence.
