Apple’s redesigned OLED MacBook Pro adds touchscreen support, but buyers will pay at least $400 more than the previous mini-LED models.

The 14-inch version now starts at $2,899, while the 16-inch begins at $3,399. Configure the larger model with every available upgrade, and the price climbs to $14,549.

Depending on the configuration, starting prices have increased approximately 9% to 16%.

Every configuration gets a $400 price increase

The entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro jumps from $2,499 to $2,899, representing the largest percentage increase.

Models equipped with M5 Max chips also cost $400 more, with the 14-inch starting at $4,499 and the 16-inch at $4,799.

The underlying processors haven’t changed. Apple is using the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips found in the previous generation, now paired with OLED touchscreens instead of mini-LED displays.

Base M5 Pro configurations include 24GB of unified memory and 1TB of storage, while M5 Max models start with 36GB and 2TB.

Also: The $30 Ethernet upgrade on Apple’s M6 iMac could help with huge photo and video files, but it won’t speed up a slow internet plan

Storage upgrades push the price past $14,000

Apple has doubled the maximum SSD capacity from 8TB to 16TB, but the upgrade comes at a substantial cost.

On the highest-end M5 Max configuration, storage upgrades are priced as follows:

  • 4TB: $1,000 above the base 2TB configuration.
  • 8TB: $3,000 above the base.
  • 16TB: $7,000 above the base.

Increasing unified memory from 48GB to 128GB adds another $2,000, while nano-texture glass costs $150.

With every option selected, the 16-inch MacBook Pro reaches $14,549.

Also: Apple just gave video editors a reason to think twice before spending another dollar on extras they may soon get for free

How much more expensive is it really?

The previous fully loaded 16-inch MacBook Pro topped out at $10,149, making the new maximum $4,400 higher.

However, that comparison includes twice the storage capacity.

Configure the new model with the same 128GB of memory, 8TB SSD, and nano-texture display as its predecessor, and the price comes to $10,549, exactly $400 more.

That makes the OLED touchscreen the main difference in a like-for-like comparison, although Apple had already increased MacBook Pro prices earlier in 2026.

Both redesigned models are available to pre-order now, with deliveries beginning Friday, November 6.
