Apple updated its Invites app with a useful feature for anyone organizing an event: hosts can now manually add guests and record whether they’re attending, even if those guests never respond through the app.
The change is part of Apple Invites version 1.12.1, which also adds an extra-large Home Screen widget to track upcoming events.
You can now manage RSVPs received outside the app
Previously, Apple Invites relied on guests responding through their invitation links to keep attendance records up to date.
That could be frustrating when someone confirmed their attendance by text message, phone call, or in person. Their response wouldn’t automatically appear on the event’s guest list.
With the latest update, hosts can add those guests themselves and manually mark their RSVP status.
For example, if you’re planning a birthday party and five relatives confirm by phone, you can now add them to your guest list without asking each person to open an invitation link.
The update also expands the Invites countdown widget to support the extra-large size, giving users another way to display an upcoming event on their iPhone Home Screen.
Apple Invites is free for guests, but hosting requires iCloud+
Apple launched Invites in February 2025 to simplify planning birthday parties, baby showers, and other gatherings.
The app lets hosts create personalized invitations, manage guest lists, and share event photos in one place.
Creating an event requires an iCloud+ subscription starting at $0.99 per month, but guests can respond to invitations for free, even without an Apple device or Apple account.
Apple has continued expanding the app since its debut. A September update added full-resolution photo sharing in shared albums, new AI-generated event backgrounds through Image Playground, and simpler email verification for guests.
Version 1.12.1 also includes bug fixes and performance improvements and is now available on the App Store.
