Apple pushed the fourth developer beta of visionOS 27 on Monday, continuing a testing cycle that began roughly six weeks ago.
The update is now available in the Settings app under Software Updates for anyone already enrolled in the developer beta program.
Siri Gets a Brain Transplant for Vision Pro
The most consequential change coming with visionOS 27 is a rebuilt version of Siri that functions closer to ChatGPT or Claude than the assistant Vision Pro owners have been using.
On the headset, Siri can now answer questions about whatever the wearer is physically looking at in the moment, pulling context from the real world rather than requiring the user to type or describe what they see.
A repositionable Siri orb floats wherever the wearer places it inside their virtual workspace.
Your Living Room Can Now Become Iceland
Panorama photos taken on an iPhone can be converted into full spatial environments, meaning a photo from a vacation or a family event can surround the wearer instead of sitting flat on a screen.
Apple is also adding a pre-built environment modeled after Iceland’s Thórsmörk region, with mountains, glaciers, and active northern lights visuals.
For Vision Pro users who rely on immersive environments to focus or unwind, that expands the built-in library without any additional purchase.
Browsers Get a Full 360-Degree Upgrade
Developers building web experiences can now use a feature called Web Environment support to create 360-degree environments that load directly inside Safari on Vision Pro.
Instead of a flat webpage sitting in a virtual room, certain sites will be able to wrap entirely around the wearer.
This opens a path for travel sites, entertainment platforms, and educational tools to deliver experiences that feel native to the headset rather than ported from a desktop browser.
The Workspace Itself Is Being Redesigned
App windows in visionOS 27 are now curved rather than flat, which aligns them more naturally with how vision works when content surrounds you at close range.
Control Center has been reorganized so frequently used system settings are easier to reach without hunting through menus.
Apple also added a smaller widget size, and notifications now expand automatically when you look at them directly, removing the step of manually tapping to see the full message.
Each of these changes targets the daily friction points that Vision Pro owners encounter during extended work sessions.
The beta schedule suggests a fall release, consistent with Apple’s typical pattern of shipping major visionOS updates alongside iOS and macOS in September or October.
