Apple has released iPadOS 27.2, a software update that adds new features across Messages, FaceTime, Apple Music, Podcasts, Books, and the Home app, along with expanded Siri AI language support.
The update is available now through Settings > General > Software Update on any iPad model compatible with iPadOS 27.
1. Messages suggests actions based on conversations
A new Suggested Actions feature in Messages recognizes context within conversations and offers relevant shortcuts.
Instead of switching between apps to complete certain tasks, users can access suggested actions directly from their messages.
2. FaceTime supports Dual Capture in group calls
Dual Capture is now available during group FaceTime calls, letting users share two camera feeds at once.
The feature expands a capability introduced with iOS 27, letting you show yourself and your surroundings in the same call.
3. Apple TV profiles come to iPad
The Apple TV app now supports individual user profiles on iPad, letting household members keep separate viewing experiences.
Profiles keep personalized recommendations and viewing activity tied to the right person, rather than sharing everything under one account. This feature is also available on iPhone with iOS 27.2.
4. Apple Music and Books get interface updates
Apple Music receives a redesigned app icon and additional visual changes as part of the service’s recent rebrand.
Apple Books also gets an interface refresh, with redesigned menus and a simplified bookmarking system intended to make managing reading progress easier.
5. Podcasts gets a redesigned Up Next queue
Apple Podcasts introduces a substantial overhaul of its Up Next queue.
The changes reorganize how upcoming episodes are presented and managed, addressing a longstanding frustration for listeners who follow multiple shows.
The updated interface makes it easier to find episodes and resume listening without navigating through several screens.
6. New controls for smart locks in the Home app
The Home app adds controls for compatible smart locks, giving users more options to manage access directly from their iPad.
Available controls depend on the lock model and its supported Home features.
7. Siri gains a shortcut for selected text
iPadOS 27.2 introduces a Mac-style shortcut for users working with a trackpad or mouse.
When you select text, a Siri icon appears nearby. Hovering over it allows you to type a request related to the selected content.
For anyone using a Magic Keyboard, the shortcut makes it easier to ask Siri questions about something they’re reading or writing without leaving the current app.
Siri AI also expands to additional languages, continuing the rollout that began with iPadOS 27.
