“I was very excited about my new Samsung Galaxy S22. But after booting the device, I was unable to make calls or send texts. Also, I was getting the SIM not provisioned MM#2 error on the screen. What do I do?“

Getting a brand-new smartphone is a joy. There is nothing more exciting than peeling off the display protection to use the new device.

Sadly, all this excitement will come to a sudden halt if you get a popup message saying “SIM not provisioned MM#2”. This error can occur due to a number of reasons.

So, in the following guide, we will go through the possible reasons and offer simple and direct solutions to fix the SIM not provisioned MM#2 error.

What Does SIM Card Not Provisioned MM2 Mean?

If you are expecting a hidden meaning behind the SIM not provisioned MM#2 error; well, you would be disappointed. There isn’t any.

It is simply a SIM card-related problem, and if it is showing up on your mobile then, the SIM card in your mobile is unable to connect with the network service provider.

You may face this error as a result of several different situations. We’ve listed below the most common ones.

  • You are using a brand-new SIM card
  • Got a brand-new phone
  • Damaged SIM card
  • SIM card is not placed in the SIM tray properly
  • The network service provider’s server is down
  • You are out of the coverage area
  • The network service provider has blocked your SIM card

You also need to remember that the error won’t stop you from using the smartphone, but accessing important functions like calling, texting, or using mobile data for the internet won’t be possible.

It may also prevent you from sending or receiving SMS on your phone and return a “Message Blocking is Active” error message.

How to Fix the SIM Not Provisioned MM#2 Error on Android

Now that you have a clear idea about the SIM not provisioned MM#2 error on Android, it is time to jump into the troubleshooting tips to resolve this problem.

  1. Restart the Android Phone
  2. Check the SIM Card
  3. Enable and Disable Airplane/Flight Mode
  4. Update Carrier Services
  5. Activate the SIM Card
  6. Contact the Network Service Provider

1. Restart the Android Phone

The SIM not provisioned MM#2 error is mostly considered to be a SIM card-related issue, but sometimes, minor system glitches can also contribute to it.

So, before jumping into the complex troubleshooting tips, we recommend restarting the Android mobile. If the error still appears after the device reboot, check out the details for the next solutions.

2. Check the SIM Card

The chance of fixing the issue with the device restart is pretty low. Still, you should give it a try. If it doesn’t work, you need to focus on the SIM card.

The first step would be to find the SIM Card Opening Tool that comes with the smartphone because most people lose it. It is good if you are not one of those people. Otherwise, a similar-sized pin would work.

Now, you need to take out the SIM tray and check the SIM card placement. If the SIM placement is wrong, then you can be sure that the displaced SIM card is the reason for this error.

However, if you didn’t find anything wrong with the SIM placement, then take out the SIM and look for signs of physical damage.

If you are using the same number for a log-time then, having a damaged SIM card is a clear possibility. In that case, you just have to go to the nearest network service provider’s store and ask for a replacement. They will get you a new SIM card for free.

3. Enable and Disable the Airplane/Flight Mode

If there wasn’t anything wrong with the SIM card or its placement, then the problem is elsewhere.

So, before going into the trouble of doing something complex, it would be wise to reset the network connection on your smartphone. No, you won’t be resetting your phone’s network settings, instead, you will be using Airplane Mode.

Airplane or Flight mode is available on every Android device. Its task is very simple. It disables your phone’s cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connection.

That means, alongside Wi-Fi, Mobile Data, and Bluetooth, the cellular network will also be blocked after enabling the Airplane/Flight Mode from the Android Quick Settings Panel

This sudden disruption will give the network the chance to reset if there are any issues with it. After you disable the mode after a few minutes, the error should disappear.

4. Update Carrier Services

Outdated apps or services can cause a lot of different issues. The Carrier Services is a built-in Google application, and it receives updates regularly.

If you haven’t migrated to a new smartphone, but you are getting the SIM not provisioned MM#2 error, you may have to update carrier services.

  1. Launch the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap on your Profile Icon
  3. Select Manage Apps and Device option.

  1. Look for Carrier Services. If it is available, tap on the Update option.

If you don’t see the Carrier Services option in the list, then the app doesn’t require an update and the error is appearing due to a completely different reason.

5. Activate the SIM Card

If you have started getting the error message after getting a new SIM card, then the SIM card may not have been activated, and due to that, you are getting the error.

Usually, the new SIM cards are supposed to get activated within 24 hours after the purchase. But occasionally, things don’t go according to plan. That’s when you need to do the following.

  1. Just call the automated number.
  2. You can also send an SMS. (Follow the instructions provided on the SIM card Pack)
  3. If you are a bit tech-savvy, just log onto the activation page on the network service provider’s website.

The error should stop appearing on your mobile after you have activated the SIM card using the discussed methods.

6. Contact Your Network Service Provider

Lastly, if you are still having trouble or you failed to activate the SIM card, you may need to contact your network service provider.

That being said, our recommended option would be to get in touch with a professional who can quickly identify the issue and get you back on track.

When you get in touch with them, explain the steps you have taken to resolve the issue so you can speed up the process.

Final Thoughts on SIM Not Provisioned #MM2

As you can see, there are a few ways to try and fix the SIM Not Provisioned MM 2 error when it comes up on your phone. We hope at least one of them worked for you!

However, if none of the fixes above worked for you, something might be wrong with your phone or SIM card.

First, try putting the SIM card in another phone just to make sure everything’s fine with it. If your SIM card works properly on that device, then something is wrong with your phone.

If the SIM doesn’t work on that device either, there may be an issue with your SIM card. Just get a SIM card replacement from your network provider.
